Chicago Northwestern Train Wreck at Oshkosh, July 4, 1924. Twenty-six cars on Chicago and Northwestern freight No. 578, from points in Wisconsin to Chicago, were derailed and piled four high in a $60,000 smash up at Cary station, near Crystal Lake early on July 4. A defective truck on one of the cars caused the wreck. No one was injured.
